Chatham Island Robin

Postby DolphinDude » Thu Jan 20, 2005 1:54 pm

Although it may take its name from my home town, the Chatham Islands are actually 450km off the coast of New Zealand. Don Merton and his team have made this one of the great (though still at great risk) species saving projects ever, bringing the Chatham Island Robin species back from a population of one pregnant female in 1978.

In twenty years time, I really hope there is still 'hope' for endangered species, whatever steps we take, the world is going to become poorer, darker and lonlier in our lifetime.
